NEW ZERO TAIL

Kubota has introduced the U17-3, an advanced 1.65 tonne zero tail swing machine that supersedes the existing U15-3 model.

The U17-3 sits between the 990kg U10-3 and the 2.1 tonne U20-3 in the company’s U-series zero tail swing range. A key feature is its adjustable track gauge. To further increase stability, the U17-3’s tracks can be expanded to a maximum of 1,240 mm. When retracted to 990mm it can pass through narrow doorways and operate in tight work areas. On both sides of the dozer, dozer blade extensions are standard.

The U17-3 is powered by the same Kubota engine that is used in the 1.5 tonne KX41-3 model. It generates 15.2kN of maximum digging force at the bucket and has a maximum reach of 3,900mm at ground level with a maximum digging depth of 2,310mm.

Inside the cab Kubota’s Intelligent Control System displays easy-to-understand diagnostics of current working conditions, together with warning indicators for engine rpm and hour meter, as well as for fuel, temperature and oil levels. When filling up with fuel the panel informs the operator when the tank is nearly full, and alerts him when routine maintenance is due.

The use of new short-pitched rubber crawlers helps minimise vibration during travel for improved operator comfort.

The Kubota U17-3 incorporates the company’s key-based ‘ANTI-THEFT’ security system, the only one of its kind to be fitted as standard equipment by a mini excavator manufacturer.
