Fantastic job!…………Isle of Canna

The community of Canna is looking for residents again, just weeks after the latest family moved to the island.
The community needs an experienced professional gardener to complete the renovation and restoration project of Canna House Garden on the National Trust for Scotland owned Isle of Canna.
The post is offered by the Canna Community Association on behalf of the National Trust for Scotland and will be funded on a full time contract until end Feb 2013, with a part time maintenance post thereafter.
National Trust for Scotland Property Manager Stewart Connor said:
“This is an exciting opportunity for community minded team players who would be able develop other areas of this dynamic and forward thinking National Trust for Scotland and community island partnership. We are especially keen to hear from people who would be interested in joining the community-managed vegetable and poly tunnel project, and supporting our vision of at least semi- self sufficiency on Canna.
“It is felt there is additional scope here to develop an income stream producing fruit, herbs and vegetables on a commercial basis for the many visitors to the island as well as sale to neighbouring businesses, both on and off the island. Creative thinkers could seize the opportunity to develop a business for themselves with a view to a longer term lifestyle on Canna.”
There is a family sized home with large garden available on a residential lease, and possible part time work for partners may be available in various roles on the island.
