The latest arrival at Sittingbourne-based JB Landscape is its third ruggedly reliable 3.5-tonne Fuso Canter, but its first from the new, low-emission Euro 5 range.
The Canter 3C13 was supplied by Mercedes-Benz dealer Sparshatts of Kent – the German manufacturer’s UK network is also responsible for sales and support of the popular Japanese light truck range.
Powered by a 130hp 3.0-litre engine, the new vehicle not only meets Euro 5 emissions limits but also the more stringent and voluntary Enhanced Environmentally-friendly Vehicle (EEV) standard.
Most 3.5-tonners are essentially van-based vehicles but thanks to its strong, ladder frame chassis the Canter is every inch a small truck, and built to withstand the punishment that landscaping and similarly demanding applications entail.
East-London specialist Tipmaster fitted the new vehicle with a composite tipping body and heavy duty rear light bar with galvanised light guards, as well as a tow bar and ball – the 3.5-tonne Canter has twin rear wheels and boasts a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, making it one of the best in its class.
JB Landscape co-owner Steve Bartholomew said: “We make full use of the high towing capacity by using our Canters to pull trailers on which we carry big mowing machines, so it’s an important plus.”
With customers across the south-east, JB Landscape relies on its Canters to tackle a wide variety of tasks and provide efficient service on some of the country’s busiest motorways, as well as in leafy suburbs and on country lanes and rough sites.
