Following nine years experience using Avant Tecno articulated mini loaders on its 20 acre specimen plant nursery as well as off-site landscaping projects, Tendercare of Denham in Buckinghamshire has recently added a third machine to its fleet, this time a model 635 equipped with an hydraulic clamp.
The company had been looking around for some time for a machine able to handle trees and shrubs in 
containers with diameters ranging from 400 to 1300 mm and weighing up to about 600 kg and when nursery owner Andrew Halksworth came across Avant’s new clamp attachment he decided his search was over.
Andrew says “What I really like about Avant Tecno machines” is the way they punch well above their weight because, despite their useful compact dimensions, they are capable of performing on a par with much larger loaders.”
Tendercare’s latest Avant Tecno unit weighs in at 1380 kg and is powered by a 4-cylinder Kubota diesel engine developing 28 kW (37.5 hp) @ 3000 rpm. This drives all four wheels via an hydrostatic transmission which provides outstanding manoeuvrability and a top speed of 14 km/h.
For this application the machine has been specified with an optional three sided FOPS cab which provides excellent weather protection without impeding frequent access and egress from the operator’s seat. The cab is constructed from a set of plexiglass components which are bolted to the standard ROPS safety frame.
