Local children had fun making herbal potions and pictures during an unusual ‘Wild about Herbs’ workshop recently. Led by medical herbalist Rachel Heathcote the children made a healing potion to take home as well as pictures from dried herb flowers and leaves, and burnt off some energy on a self-guided herb trail.
This was the first children’s workshop that Rachel, who practises in Salisbury and Ringwood has run. A member of The National Institute of Medical Herbalists, she normally sees patients on a one-to-one basis, but having developed her own interest in herbs at an an early age she is keen to spark a similar passion in children for nature, plants and natural health.
Rachel will be running another herb workshop in Wimborne’s Knoll Gardens on 3 September. ‘Herbal Medicine for Health and Vitality’ is for adults and looks at ways of managing stress, boosting immunity and improving sleep through the use of natural remedies.
