The world’s largest spade, manufactured by Bulldog Tools, made its official national debut at the Hampton Court Palace flower show. The giant spade measures 11’ 8’’ high with a blade width of 23½” and weighs 28 stone. Bulldog Tools built the spade to celebrate 230 years of trade in British tool manufacture.
The firm invited Mary Payne MBE, a well-known horticulturalist and Jon Wheatley, winner of fourteen Chelsea gold medals, to unveil the spade.
