Top blind gardener

Some outstanding gardeners, drawn from across the UK, have been recognised by Thrive – the national charity which improves the lives of disabled people through gardening – and the Royal National Institute of Blind People

Awards were presented at a celebratory event in London. The first prize went to 82 year old Jean Harrington. (right)

Jean was awarded the first prize for gardening holistically, her innovative approach and for her unique and rational tips and ideas. Jean takes particular interest in vegetable growing, recycling, composting and encouraging wildlife into the garden.
