An effective promotional campaign combined with the recent buoyant nature of the market – two of the factors that have contributed to the highest ever sales of the HTA’s National Garden Gift Vouchers (NGGV). Sales in March were up 13% on the previously highest March which was in 2007 and 60 per cent on March last year.
The nationwide spring promotional campaign for National Garden Gift Vouchers began in the lead up to Mothers Day with exposure across national media including advertising on ITV3, building on the success of the pre-Christmas TV campaign, and a promotion on ITV1’s The Alan Titchmarsh Show. Further schemes to raise national awareness of the vouchers are coming up with a competition feature on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ programme from 6th -9th April, a major in-store promotion and a national newspaper promotion in May.
HTA’s Marketing Manager David Butler says“We know from research that National Garden Gift Vouchers are one of the highest selling products in garden centres at this time of year. The strong sales for March exceed previous levels and provide a good indicator that garden centre trade has picked up over the last couple of weeks. Further promotional activities and the fact that Easter is in April this year will provide a further boost to sales. We encourage garden retailers to stock up with vouchers in plenty of time.”
