Stewartsturf are urging landscape architects to make informed decisions about the turf they specify for clients’ projects.
Duncan Forbes, a director of the company that grows turf at sites in Fife and East Lothian, says that choosing turf that is suited to the conditions can have a dramatic impact on the end results.
He was speaking after three sites featuring Stewartsturf products won top places in the recent NHBC Scottish awards.
Duncan said: “Turf isn’t just a generic product. It needs to be able to cope with local conditions and it definitely can’t do that if it has spent long hours deteriorating on long, needless journeys.”
Stewartsturf has worked with leading agronomists to develop a turf mix that will thrive in Scottish conditions. Turf is only harvested once it has reached maturity (16-18 months) and all turf is cut to order and delivered on a next day service in order to maintain its freshness.
