Volvo – fast and precise performance

Building Contractors, Harris Construction based near Exeter, Devon has purchased its first new compact excavator in the guise of a Volvo EC27C from Volvo’s utility dealer for the south west of England – Plant & Engineering Services Ltd.
Purchasing a new Volvo machine has been a new departure for proprietor Martyn Harris and a well-considered investment in his opinion. “We continually had to hire machines in for our building projects and after buying an old second hand machine for a short while we decided it made more economic sense to buy new and as we have a good relationship with Plant & Engineering Services decided to try the Volvo EC27C,” he says. “So far we’ve been suitably impressed with the productivity and speed of operation coupled to the reach and dump height. It’s just big enough to load our 15 tonne truck when we need to dispose of overburden and other material.”
The Volvo EC27C is powered by a Volvo 1.6 litre low emission Stage III engine and the simultaneous control of slew and offset movements provides a fast and precise performance.
An automatic two-speed travel system engages when operating in high speed mode, automatically shifting gear from high to low according to the travel load. Another feature for increased efficiency is the standard auto-idling system that lowers engine speed to idle if a control is not used for five seconds. The engine reverts to the pre-selected speed almost instantly when any control is moved. This system delivers lower fuel consumption, longer engine life and less environmental noise.
Plant & Engineering Services of Beare near Exeter Ltd is the dealer for Volvo utility covering the south west of England.
