Hampton Court Garden Festival cancelled but RHS gardens re-open

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) announced today (June 2nd, 2020) that it is cancelling its Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. This comes just a few days after announcing the opening of its gardens under a pre-booking system.

The society has also made the decision to cancel other horticultural shows due to take place in late summer, including RHS Garden Rosemoor and RHS Garden Hyde Hall.

“We had so hoped that we could hold our much loved RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival this autumn for our members, visitors, exhibitors and sponsors, but sadly in these challenging times this is just not possible,” explains Sue Biggs, RHS director general.

But she added that their recent Virtual Chelsea Flower show was a success. “bringing some horticultural joy to the nation.”

“All future planned RHS shows are of course subject to government advice allowing them to take place, but we hope to welcome you back in 2021 to some spectacular shows, including of course the world’s best flower show, Chelsea 2021.”

Other ways to enjoy the wonders of the RHS include visiting the gardens which re-opened from the start of June 2020 under government guidelines. Safety measures will be heavily implemented at all gardens, including a strict daily allocation of pre-booked tickets each day for the foreseeable future.
