An Avant 635 compact tool carrier has proved to be the ideal machine for a multitude of tasks around the Badminton Horse Trials site in preparation for the event taking place in May.
Site manager Harry Verney, who has been responsible for the event’s infrastructure for some 24 years said: “We have to carry a vast amount of items around the 700 acre site from portable loos and waste to fencing and traffic cones and I have to say the little Avant is a fantastic machine, particularly where space is at a premium, and has coped with everything we throw at it.”
Besides being used as an economical means of transporting material using pallet forks, the Avant has also been used to remove old fence posts and, when equipped with a bucket, for small earthmoving and hole filling tasks.
The model 635, on loan from Avant Tecno (UK) of Thetford in Norfolk, is powered by a reliable Kubota diesel engine developing 28 kW (37.5 hp) and features an articulated chassis and 4-wheel hydrostatic drive which provides outstanding manoeuvrability and traction at all times.
