Cities to green-up

The RHS, is creating an event in the heart of London to help urbanites make the most of their outside spaces.
The theme of urban design will be prevalent at the show and planted front gardens, clever ways to green up balconies and design tips are some of the features set to inspire those living in cities to green-up their outside space.

The use of front gardens has been topical for some time, especially with recent legislation requiring planning permission to pave them. At the show Capel Manor College, the Society of Garden Designers and regular show designer Claire Potter are just three of the exhibitors showcasing designs to help get the most out of front gardens using both plants and hard landscaping and innovative products such as green walls.
Balconies designed by invited guests will give clever ideas to brighten up even the smallest urban space. In the elements of design section, the latest products suitable for urban gardens will be showcased.

The RHS Plant and Design Show will take place on 17 – 18 February, in the RHS Horticultural Halls, Greycoat Street, SW1. To book tickets call 0845 612 1253 or visit www.rhs.org.uk/londonshows.
