The prolonged hot and dry conditions experienced during the summer of 2026 are having a severe impact on turf production across the UK.
With 71.3% of England experiencing drought conditions in August 2026, this is the third significant drought faced by many turf growers in just five years.

Crops are being damaged, production times extended and, in the worst cases, entire fields may need to be re-drilled or abandoned.
Rainfall has returned in late August/early September, but the effects of the 2026 drought will continue, potentially affecting future production and the availability of UK-grown turf into 2027.
