Cherrywood Community Primary School reached a major milestone in February as a resin-bound surface was successfully laid as part of its sensory garden transformation.
The Farnborough, Hampshire school was a winner of the 2025 Kebur Community Project Awards, receiving £1,500 worth of garden materials to help create a calming, inclusive outdoor space designed to support pupils’ wellbeing.
Installation of the Addagrip surface marks a major step in bringing the project to life. Originally planned as artificial grass, the surface was upgraded due to the resin’s durability, permeability and stronger environmental credentials – creating a longer-lasting, more sustainable solution.

Specialist input
The project was delivered by Addagrip, which provided discounted materials and specialist know-how, alongside local contractor Esme Garden Design and Landscaping, key players in completing the scheme. The materials have been jointly funded by Kebur Garden Materials and Addagrip.
The wider sensory garden will feature tactile planting, fragrant herbs, raised beds, reflective spaces and wildlife-friendly elements such as bug houses and pollinator-attracting plants, Claire Hills, the school’s social, emotional and mental health lead, said:
“The sensory garden will provide a safe and inclusive environment, particularly supporting children with autism, sensory processing needs and any pupil who would benefit from a peaceful, nurturing outdoor space.
Versatile area
“Many of our children do not have access to such environments at home, so this garden will become a well-used, versatile area that enriches their daily school experience”.
Jo Holtom, Kebur Garden Materials business partner, added: “This installation is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when local businesses collaborate. We’re grateful to Addagrip and Esme Developments for their generosity and expertise.”
