The Daily Telegraph Garden, designed by Cleve West, was awarded gold and has been given the accolade of Best Show Garden.
Diarmuid Gavin achieved his first gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for his Irish Sky Garden.
The judging panel awarded a total of eight gold medals, five silver – gilt flora medals and silver flora medals in the show garden category.
In the Urban Garden category, eight gardens were awarded medals – three gold; four silver-gilt and two silver medals. The Best Urban Garden 2011 title went to Stockton Drilling Ltd, with Lands’ End and Worcester Bosch gardens also winning gold.
The Best Artisan Garden accolade and a gold medal were awarded to the Hae-woo-so (Emptying One’s Mind) garden. Other awards in this category are one other gold, one silver – gilt, three silvers and a bronze.
In the Great Pavilion where world class nurseries exhibit a vast range of top quality plants, there were over 100 medals awarded, of which 56 were gold. The President’s Award in the Great Pavilion was awarded to Crug Farm Plants, Gwynedd
Four gold medals were awarded in the Continuous Learning category in the Great Pavilion, with Sparsholt College being awarded gold and Best Continuous Learning Exhibit.
