Shop sales are booming

Farm shop sales are booming across the UK and just outside Wimborne, Littlemoors Farm Shop is also expanding, to bring its full range of fresh local produce to the growing market of people who want to know exactly where their food has come from.

Since opening in 2007 Littlemoors Farm Shop has become a favourite stopping off point for all those who love delicious natural food and drink at its best. Food from up to 20 local producers can be found within the converted barn at Longham, near Wimborne, which also features a butchery and its own bakery alongside the Haybarn coffee shop with its delicious snacks and light lunches.

Yet, whilst the farm shop has proved immensely popular, owner David Trehane is well aware that for many the luxury of personal shopping is no longer an option.

“There is a huge appetite for local food with 33% of households now regularly visiting farm shops and a similar number buying from farmers’ markets,” said David. “But for others time can be a real problem. They want to reduce their food miles and support local farmers. They want to enjoy fresh local produce, but when it comes down to it they just don’t have enough hours in the day to visit the markets and the individual farms.

“To make it easy for them, and help out our regular customers, we have just launched our own online store at www.littlemoorsfarmshop.co.uk, allowing our full range to be delivered directly to the door.”
