Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for environmental and land-based industries, have announced they are inviting representatives from the horticulture, landscaping and sports turf industry to attend a choice of two informative events, following a similar successful workshop offered last year. The workshops offer a chance to learn about qualifications and training.
Lisa Barry, Learning and Development Manager at Cats Protection, attended the event last year and commented: “The event was a great opportunity to hear more detail about how the qualifications system all fits together and to hear others’ views, questions and challenges facing them. It provided plenty of food for thought with regards to how we at Cats Protection can develop our internal training in line with qualifications.”
Liz Pridgeon, Lantra’s Development Manager for Standards and Qualifications, said: “These events will improve horticulture, landscaping and sports turf businesses’ understanding of training and qualifications development and show how they can contribute to the future success of industry through creating a supply of people with the right skills to join tomorrow’s workforce.”
The employer-led workshops will explore occupational standards, qualification development, and apprenticeships, giving participants an opportunity to learn more about the ways they can get involved. The workshops will also provide an invaluable insight into the benefits of getting involved by drawing upon first hand experiences of other employers.
The events are free of charge and take place in Wiltshire on Tuesday 27 October and in Yorkshire on Wednesday 25 November.
