UPM Tilhill, the arboriculture and environmental works company, has completed works to regenerate two open community spaces at Imperial Road housing estate, Haringey, North London.
The contract was undertaken on behalf of Places for People. Funded through the Green Spaces for People scheme, which will see over 70 green spaces across the country improved with £15.6 million from the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces Programme, the project has seen the previously neglected spaces transformed into two contrasting places with a purpose.
The designs, by Wynne Williams Associates Landscape Architects, were developed in consultation with local residents. UPM Tilhill has created a meeting shelter; ball games area; and colourful play equipment including swings for small children in one space and a tranquil terraced seating area with a circular lawn, wildflower meadow and ramp to improve access in the other.
Geoff Edwards, District Manager, UPM Tilhill, told The Landscaper , "We are pleased to have worked closely with Places for People and the local residents to help create a vibrant and attractive environment for the community of Imperial Road with access to green public space and recreational activities."
