High Ropes
Stevenage Borough Council has approved plans for an exciting adventure sports facility at Fairlands Valley Park. A high ropes course, featuring a climbing wall, ladders, swings and other aerial challenges, will be built in the park.
The project is to be funded by SoStevenage, the local strategic partnership, and will allow school and community groups to enjoy the course during the day. In the evenings, weekends and school holidays, it will be open to the public. The course is expected to bring in visitors from outside the Stevenage area and will help to raise the profile of Stevenage as a sport and leisure destination.
This facility will provide high quality, challenging activities for people of all ages and abilities. Set in the middle of Fairlands Valley Park, the course will allow people to use the wall, ropes, swings and ladders in a realistic natural setting.
The Stevenage School Sports Partnership, the Extended Schools Consortia, Sport Stevenage, Stevenage Borough Council and Stevenage Leisure Limited have all worked in partnership to bring the course into being.
Jill Eaton of the Stevenage School Sports Partnership, said, “The course will enhance the outstanding leisure facilities already provided at Fairlands and give Stevenage residents and visitors a new and exciting challenge. We are delighted that SoStevenage was able to support the project with a grant.”
