CONFERENCE A SUCCESS

This new event over the weekend of 3-4 September was well attended with close to 80 delegates, speakers and exhibitors, at the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester, UK.
The launch of this platform to debate the role of nature, landscape and the urban world we inhabit was a test to establish how the public, industry and academia responded. A representative from the European Landscape Convention showed that this event was also interesting to government and across Europe.
All our speakers grasped the importance of the agenda to discuss and inform and set out their opinions on how they saw the future. This sharing of opinions and responding in panel sessions led to enthusiastic feedback about the value of the event and a demand for more. The speakers included Professor James Hitchmough, of Sheffield University, Noel Farrer, the past President of the Landscape Institute and Dr Phil Askew, the Project Lead for the Olympic Park in London. A full list of speakers is included in the Conference Handbook
The Conference Handbook is now available as a free download from the website homepage
The sponsers were  led by the Society of Garden Designers, , the London College of Garden Design, the British Association of Landscape Industries and The Landscaper magazine.
