An award-winning Birmingham landscapes service is seeing its business blossom after securing its third new maintenance contract within a matter of months.
Bournville Village Landscapes’ (BVL) latest contract will see it manage the gardens and open spaces of Bournville Gardens Retirement Village on Bristol Road South, Birmingham.
The £39 million village, home to over 300 people, has been built on the site of the former Bournville College and is managed by the ExtraCare Charitable Trust (ECT)
As part of the contract, BVL, which is part of housing association Bournville Village Trust, will carry out regular grass-cutting, shrub pruning and hedge cutting at Bournville Gardens, which has large communal gardens.
It will also support the work of the village’s gardening club, which encourages residents to cultivate their own plants in a communal green house.
Lloyd Gower, Head of BVL, said: “We are pleased to be working with the ExtraCare Charitable Trust to deliver the landscape service at Bournville Gardens.
“We’ve worked hard over the last couple of years to develop the skills and expertise at BVL and as such have now been able to start tendering for external contracts.
“Not only is this allowing us to boost the growth of BVL, but it’s also giving us the chance to demonstrate the commitment to quality landscaping that Bournville is well known for.”
The contract is the third that BVL has recently secured, having won a deal for a new student accommodation block in Selly Oak and a contract for a retirement home in Bournville.
BVL also manages all of Bournville Village Trust’s parks, open spaces and communal gardens, cutting 500,000 square metres of grass, 14 miles of hedges and planting around 20 new trees, each year.
