Winning Plant…..Chelsea Plant of Year

THE small white flower that has just been named ‘Plant of the Year’ at the Chelsea Flower Show is heading to Gardening Scotland 2011 with the Scots couple who bred it.
Elizabeth and Alasdair MacGregor, who run the Elizabeth MacGregor nursery in Kirkudbright , first spotted the anemone in a batch of seedlings 10 years ago and have spent the last decade painstakingly propagating it.
The plant, which is called Anemone ‘Wild Swan’ is being exhibited at Chelsea on behalf of Elizabeth and Alasdair by Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants and it will go on sale to the public for the very first time at Gardening Scotland 2011.
