This bank holiday, the National Garden Scheme celebrates their 90th anniversary.
Since 1927 they’ve donated over £50 million to charity by opening gardens and raising money from entry fees, tea and cake. In 5 years they’ve donated a staggering £722,000 to Parkinson’s UK, a charity close to our hearts and one that is incredibly proud to be a beneficiary of the National Garden Scheme.
Here’s 4 easy ways to get involved in their celebrations this weekend:
1. Visit a garden Over 370, including original 1927 gardens, are open this bank holiday. Find your nearest at ngs.org.uk
2. Look out for Parkinson’s UK cyclists Show support on social media for some brave Parkinson’s UK staff cycling to garden openings this weekend.
3. Volunteer with Parkinson’s UK Become a National Garden Scheme Ambassador – an easy volunteer role where you’ll help at a garden opening.
4. Enter the photography competition The National Garden Scheme has partnered with BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine for a competition. Prizes include a private tour of Mary Berry’s garden! Find out more at parkinsons.org.uk/jobs/16-may-2017/national-garden-scheme-ambassador
