Viridor, which composts over 230,000 tonnes of green and bio wastes per year, has been recognised for the quality standards it has in place at two of its facilities in Somerset.
The company’s Walpole and Dimmer sites have both satisfied the stringent requirements of the Compost Association Quality Protocol. This marks Viridor’s Revive and range of other composts as a high quality product. Viridor joins only a handful of producers nationwide who meet the protocol.
This recognition comes on top of the PAS 100 industry standard already awarded to Viridor for its Revive compost which is made from Somerset green waste and this year is the proud sponsor of the RHS South West in Bloom competition.
Developed by key players in the composting sector, including The Composting Association and the Environmental Services Association, the Quality Protocol sets out the criteria for the production of quality compost from different types of source segregated biowaste like food and garden plant waste.
Kevin Bishop, South West regional recycling manager for Viridor, says; "We’re very pleased to have achieved this certification. It recognises the hard work we have all done to ensure that only top quality compost is produced to meet the expectations of our customers including landscapers, farmers, horticulturalists and hobby gardeners."
Revive is available in 40 litre bags or larger bulk quantities for landscapers and commercial growers.
