What Lies Beneath

The APL Garden for Ascot titled ‘What Lies Beneath’ has been designed as an educational piece of landscaping. Public at the show will be invited to walk on the garden, in which there are exposed sections of hard landscaping/decking and artificial grass that will reveal the construction methods used and the layers needed to achieve a solid well-built finish.
Talks will be held throughout each day to educate and go through the various methods used by a professional landscaper from the Association of Professional Landscapers.
The garden has been designed by Claudia De Yong. Claudia de Yong is known for creating ‘romantic’ gardens and landscapes and uses the finest materials and carefully chosen plants. Claudia took home the ‘Best in Show’ Award at BBC Gardeners’ World Live last year, and the ‘Peoples Choice’ award on APL Avenue at BBC Gardeners’ World Live in 2016.
The garden will be built by Simply Green Landscapes. Based in Wokingham, Simply Green landscapes were established in 2000 and were silver medal winners of the Royal Horticultural Society’s BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2010, and winners of various other accolades. As members of the APL they work to a strict code of conduct, and all work is insured.
The inaugural Ascot Spring Garden Show at Ascot Racecourse is a high-quality boutique event, showcasing Britain’s finest established and emerging horticultural talent and has been created with the gardening enthusiast in mind.
Guests can look forward to six inspiring show gardens, a dazzling array of horticultural trade exhibitors, free talks, and an opportunity to purchase plants from a range of specialist plant nurseries.
Many thanks to our sponsors for the garden who are Burgon and Ball, Creepers Nurseries, Easigrass, Garden Trading, London Stone and the Posh Shed Company.
