Brett Landscaping has donated paving for a garden at the RHS Cardiff Flower Show called Urban Sanctuary. The garden, designed by Caroline Jones, will feature an unusual wooden ‘sleeper’ wall with chamfered sleepers to give privacy around a patio area, which uses sandstone paving supplied by Brett.
The garden, which will be installed by Brett Approved Installer Paul Moruzzi of Broxton & Moruzzi Landscaping , will also be fitted with a glass panel into the sleeper wall to give an interesting effect of light and colour. A path will curve around and through a ‘gravel’ planting area, past a bench to the patio.
A water feature to co-ordinate with the glass panel will give interest as will a timberglobe and a further glass panel set amongst the planting. The garden is mulched with recycled rubber chippings (including the ‘gravel’ area) as the owners are interested in using recycled products where possible. The planting consists of a Betula utilis Doorenbos and a number of large shrubs to give structure with an underplanting of perennials and ferns to give a soft spring planting. Early nectar plants will be included for bees and butterflies.
Caroline Jones, of C.J. Garden Designs said: “The garden has been designed as a comfortable and pleasing space for a couple to enjoy. We know visitors to RHS Cardiff will appreciate the design and hopefully they will find lots of ideas they can take home.”
