Crowning moment for tree surgeon

A Wiltshire tree surgeon has become one of just 200 organisations across the UK to gain the industry’s top accreditation.
Acer Tree Surgeons, which is based in Westbury, underwent rigorous eight month testing and interviews with the Arboricultural Association to gain ARB Approved Contractor Status.
As well as providing tree work for private individuals, the company, which employs six full and part time staff and freelancers, is an approved contractor for Wiltshire Council. Acer also looks after many of the region’s country hotels and private estates.
Nick Cranston, who founded the firm six years ago, said: “Health and safety, top quality tree care, environmental good practice, strong customer care and investment in staff training have always been at the heart of Acer Tree Surgeons. We’re delighted that ethos has now been recognised with the industry’s top award and hope it will create new opportunities for work in the region.”
Nick Cranston qualified as a tree surgeon at Cannington College in Somerset and went on to gain qualifications at Westernbirt, the national Arboretum.
