Family-run arb firm Koala Tree Care already operates two GreenMech woodchippers for their work across North Somerset.
Now twin brothers Callum and Aaron have added the turntable Eco 135TT which, running alongside a gravity-fed CS100, provides an economical, safe solution to domestic tree work.
The twins founded Koala in 2019 as a one-stop shop for tree, hedge and general garden maintenance in and around Bristol. As client demand rose, the business soon outgrew the capacity of its first chipper and needed kit to keep pace with growth.
Their first upgrade was to a compact CS100 to work in tight spaces such as residential gardens to process up to 4 in branches and brash. With workload still rising, it was time to add the even bigger Eco 135TT to the fleet, supplied by local dealer GA Groundcare.
Massive difference
“The machines have made a massive difference to our workflow,” notes Callum. “While the CS100 is still used frequently because of its ability to be wheeled through a house where no external access is available, the investment in the Eco 135TT makes light work of larger jobs.
“The turntable is such a useful feature – the machine is used most days and is rarely used in the straight position. We can alter the chipper to any angle for safe, convenient feeding and ensure chippings cleanly make their way into the truck.”
Tending both machines is straightforward, he adds. “The Eco 135TT’s disc-blade chipping system lets me turn the blade three times before we need to resharpen, which I can also do myself with the disc blade sharpener, minimising downtime and keeping us on schedule.”
