A UK supplier of floral features is looking to spread its roots further afield after making its biggest export delivery so far to mainland Europe.
Plantscape, based in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, has despatched hundreds of its free-standing and raised planters, which will help to provide splashes of summer colour for communities in Austria and Germany.
The consignment, which left the UK last month, comprised of 36 barrier baskets and more than 200 raised Holestar planters, as well as a number of Plantscape’s multi-tier Eyeful and Flower Tower floor-standing planters.
They were sent to Moosheim, a town in Styria, south-east Austria, where they will be planted up and rented out to towns and villages.
Mark Stone, managing director of Plantscape, told The Landscaper “This latest order is excellent news for us, because it significantly increases our presence overseas.
“The Europeans are as passionate about floral displays as we are in the UK. Not only will nearly every house in Austria have a window box full of flowers at this time of year, they have a long tradition in decorating their public places too.

Plantscape works with more than 300 local authorities in the UK, and its products are regularly in use in Glasgow, Manchester and Central London. Its barrier baskets are installed at Heathrow and Gatwick Airports and in 2007 it provided the floral decoration for the first stage of the Tour De France, when it passed over Tower Bridge in London.
