And as the credit crunch forces more people to stay at home this year and make improvements to their existing properties, the creators of this spectacular outdoor kitchen believe more people will make stellar leaps from the humble back garden barbecue.
Business partners John Kersley and Julian Pawsey of Nascentia Landscapes received the award from the Association of Professional Landscapers – having impressed the judges with their project’s “modern design” and “outstanding finish”.
The project succeeded in the APL’s “Special Feature” category, receiving a Highly Commended award from a panel of well seasoned experts from within the landscape design and construction industry.
The brief was to design and build a multi purpose area incorporating both a cooking area along with a corresponding area to entertain guests whilst preparing food. The final design had to be in-keeping with the modern style of the house and complement the existing landscaped gardens.
The dramatic result boasts a fully equipped cooking and barbecue area, a decked seating area with outside fireplace as well as structural and informal planting, lighting and integrated surround sound audio.
“We’re extremely proud to be acknowledged and recognised by a professional body such as the APL,” said John, who predicts further growth in alfresco living.
