Green-tech is celebrating a mammoth achievement at being named amongst the top 100 businesses in North Yorkshire. The survey of businesses in the region includes a variety of companies including high profile food producers Bettys & Taylors Group, clothing retailer Country Casuals and Thirsk Racecourse.
Founded in North Yorkshire by husband-and-wife team, Rachel and Richard Kay, in 1994 with only themselves, a van and a shed, Green-tech Ltd, turned over £160,000 in its first year’s trading mostly in Yorkshire supplying the region’s landscapers.
Eighteen years later the company has 42 staff, a £9.4m turnover, is based in 30,000 sq ft of warehousing and offices at Nun Monkton and operates nationally supplying large-scale operations including the Forestry Commission, local authorities, health authorities, hotel chains, water authorities, sports grounds and facilities management enterprises throughout the UK.
