Hundred years of mowing! competition

The Honda Grass Masters Competition – a quest to track down the Honda UK’s oldest, privately owned, petrol powered lawnmower has already unearthed a Ransomes machine that’s over 100 years old.

In 1909 Louis Blériot claimed a £1,000 prize from the Daily Mail for being the first pilot to cross the English Channel while this Ransomes was cutting it’s first stripes – with an engine roughly the same size.
Just to make sure they don’t miss something older that’s lurking in a shed somewhere, Honda are putting out a final call for entries and extending the entry deadline for another two weeks – cut off now set at Monday 14th August.
The competition prize – a brand new Honda HRX476 QX – is well worth having. Worth £850, this 19”rear roller machine has an easy starting, self-propelled 160cc 4-stroke engine and Honda’s unique Roto-stop technology. In addition, 20 runners up will receive a £50 voucher which is redeemable against any new Honda lawnmower.
Entrants should log onto:
www.honda.co.uk/grassmasters fill out the entry form online and then upload a photograph of their own special Grass Master. Those wishing to use more traditional methods can download a printable form from the site, fill it in and send it in by post.

(In 1978, Honda’s first walking lawnmower was sold in the U.S.A.
Their first power product engine was released in 1953)
