Travel Scholarship

The Geoffrey Chalk Memorial Fund Travel Scholarship is an unrivalled opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic landscaper or landscaping student to travel, with the intention of broadening their landscaping horizons and passing on their newly found knowledge and experience to others within the sector.
The recipient of the scholarship will receive £1,500 to fund travel related to the Landscape Industry. Past recipients have travelled to South Africa to research the native plants of the Cape, to Japan to visit the UK WorldSkills Competition and to Germany and Holland to investigate the large scale perennial planting style in Europe’s public parks and gardens. 2008 recipient Tom Hedges of BALI Member Sentry Groundcare East is travelling to California to research natural swimming pools. The scholarship will be presented to the winning applicant at the 2009 BALI National Landscape Awards ceremony on the 4th December 2009 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
To be eligible to enter as a landscape professional, you must be employed by a BALI member or if you are a landscape student you must be currently undertaking a Landscaping or related industry course at any level.
BALI is proud to be part of the Geoffrey Chalk Memorial Fund Travel Scholarship, the fund helps BALI to promote and ensure its commitment to skills development within the landscape industry.
The closing date for nominations is Friday 18th September 2009.
