Gold Medal Chelsea Flower Show

Wimborne’s Knoll Gardens has just been awarded its 8th consecutive Gold Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show Owner, Neil Lucas, also launched a new charity at the show. The Knoll Gardens Foundation.
The UK’s leading ornamental grass specialist, Knoll Gardens has championed the naturalistic style of gardening for many years. The new Foundation will take this remit a step further, researching, promoting and spreading a practical, sustainable gardening ethos for horticulture and garden design.
To mark the national significance of the occasion the Foundation launch was attended by environmentalist David Bellamy; one of the UK’s foremost garden designers, Cleve West, and the President of the Royal Horticultural Society, Giles Coote-Adams. Neil Lucas also handed outs souvenir vials of soil taken from Knoll Gardens.
Neil Lucas said, “To my knowledge no bare soil has ever left Knoll Gardens in this way. There is an old saying that ‘the answer lies in the soil’. These few precious vials are a symbolic gesture, not only of the importance that soil plays in all our lives, but also of how we hope, through the Knoll Gardens Foundation to help address the needs of gardeners and the environment for generations to come”.
