Over 470 companies will exhibit this year despite the difficult trading conditions inflicted on the industry by the abysmal weather to date.
It has had no adverse effect on the show, and the area of stands has increased for 2012. Houses A – E are completely full and there is a good first year presence in the new build glasshouse House T which was completed in January. Over 90 new companies are participating to date, and the European contingent continues to grow.
The seminar programme takes place over two days this year. Sessions include; Renewable Energy (Hallmark Power); Screening (Luiten Screening / Ludvig Svensson); Sprayers (HDC Technical Session); Training (The Garden Works) and New Plant Introductions by Peter Seabrook.
Acorn (MK) Nurseries was founded in 1981. The current partnership of Stephen Burchmore and Ian Pretty has led the company to its position as the area’s leading wholesale nursery. In 1986 the present site at Emberton was purchased allowing a rapid increase in production.
With a staff of 14, the nursery now produces in excess of 150,000 2L and 3L plants. They produce a good range of trees and shrubs as well as a large selection of herbaceous perennials and alpines. They also grow an ever increasing range of specimen stock with pot sizes up to 100L.
On top of their own production they buy in a large amount of stock from many of the top nurseries in the UK, Europe and as afield as New Zealand.
The nurseries plant finding service provides customers with a complete one-stop solution to their planting needs. They operate a comprehensive web site and it’s worth browsing through the pages to get a broader outlook on their activities.
