$50 billion dollars to spend

The law passed by the UAE looks set to increase the % of green by 500% in the next 15 years and has $50 billion dollars allocated to help make it happen, reports Clare Johnson, UK partner of an event designed to help this happen.
Outdoor Design Build & Supply (ODBS) is a new trade show being staged at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centrto meet demand.
Clare Johnson, Director of the show’s UK partner Pilot Navigation told The Landscaper “it’s one of those rare situations where the political will, the law and the money all line up. It’s an excellent opportunity for UK companies wishing to start or expand their export programme, at a time when many markets are still proving difficult”.
The event will offer the dedicated one-stop showcase addressing the needs of the outdoor built environment. Typical exhibits will include machinery; hard and soft landscaping materials; irrigation; play equipment; solar power; consultancy and much more.

The UAE implements a new Landscape and Greenery Law by the end of 2012. This stipulates that all developers must incorporate at least 25% of ‘green space’ or a ‘landscaped area’ within plans for commercial, residential or leisure projects, before planning permission is considered
The ODBS exhibition focuses on the design, build and supply for all outdoor space in the UAE and GCC countries – including public parks, municipal works, private and palace gardens, green areas within urban settings, major residential and commercial projects, as well as play, irrigation and landscaping.
