Awarding times

Members of the Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) are invited to submit entries for the 2009 APL Awards sponsored by Bradstone. The awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the best in British landscaping and enable winning landscapers to gain national recognition for their achievements.

There will be a new category for 2009: The Young Achiever Award, which will be awarded to the individual that the judges feel has made the most significant progress or shown the most outstanding ability and commitment to their role. Entrants must be under 25 years old and nominated by their employer. This new category will allow the APL and its members to showcase the young talent in the sector and increases the total to twelve categories.

Other categories are front garden, project value under £10,000, project value £10,000 – £20,000, project value £20,000 – £30,000, project value £30,000 – £50,000, project value over £50,000, soft landscaping, overall design and build, commercial garden, maintenance and special feature.

APL members are invited to enter projects which have been completed between 01 April 2003 and 01 August 2008. Entries will be judged by an expert panel of landscapers and designers in November.

Managing Director of Landform Consultants and this year’s Chairman of the Judges Mark Gregory says “With many different award categories there will be at least one that will fit a project you have taken pride in. The APL awards recognise projects produced by members of all sizes so don’t be put off if you think you’re too small. There is work in pulling your application together but the rewards from success will make it seem like nothing and the boost to your team from an Award cannot be achieved in any other way. I know from experience!”

Entry forms are being circulated and are also available both on the APL website (www.landscaper.org.uk) and from the APL Events team. Contact events@the-hta.org.uk or call 0118 930 3132
