The Royal Forestry Society (RFS) has announced the appointment of Simon Lloyd to the new post of Director of Development.
Simon, 54, from Oxford, will be based at the RFS new headquarters at The Hay Barns, Home Farm Drive, Upton Estate at Banbury, and will take up his post at the beginning of December.
For the past four years he has been Bursar of Hertford College, Oxford, where he played a leading role in the strengthening of the College’s finances. Prior to that Simon had a twenty-eight year career in BP, mainly in business development and marketing strategy, culminating in a senior position within BP Castrol.
As well as being a long standing member of the RFS, Simon manages his family’s woodlands in Herefordshire and recently was awarded Merit in the post-graduate Diploma in Forestry from Bangor University.
RFS President Nick Halsey, said:“With the expertise which Simon brings from both the worlds of marketing and academia, as well as his extensive forestry knowledge, we believe that the RFS is well placed to play a significant role in the exciting new environment in which forestry finds itself today.”
Simon added: “I am delighted to be joining the RFS, which I value as a highly respected forestry education charity, and I am looking forward to working with the staff and volunteers to promote the work of the Society and help to drive it forward.”
