Named after nanny

Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants will this year celebrate 21 years in business and as one of the UK’s most celebrated herbaceous perennial nurseries they continue to go from strength to strength, expanding their client base, continuing on the show circuit and of course introducing spectacular new varieties year on year.

The new plant for Chelsea Flower Show 2009 is SCABIOSA africana ‘Jocelyn’ and has been bred by Rosemary and Robert at the Whitchurch nursery. A beautiful large re-blooming variety that is an excellent garden plant for a sunny border in any well drained soil.

The standard Scabiosa Africana is lilac in colour but this new form is clear pink. The blooms are a good 50 mm across and are ideal for use as cut flowers and last for a long time. The plant has been named after the nanny of Rosemary & Robert’s son Cameron.
