Drayton Manor theme park is reducing its refuse sent for landfill by using a range of recycling and novelty bins around the park grounds. The Midlands theme park, which has 100 different rides and attractions, has installed over 100 bins around the grounds to encourage visitors to recycle their rubbish.
The range in use includes Eco-Bins manufactured by ethical horticultural supplier Amberol at their Derbyshire headquarters. The Eco-Bin is freestanding and comes in four colour coded recycling versions with either a 140 or 240 litre capacity. The park also uses the traditional Square Deal bins which have a 130 litre capacity and weighted base as well as Percy Penguin novelty bins, designed to appeal to children.
“Keeping areas clear and litter free is a major priority for us,” comments Gaynor Pope, Estates Co-ordinator at Drayton Manor. “With thousands of visitors every month, our estates team make it a priority to keep the grounds clean and tidy. The team also has a firm commitment to fulfilling environmental responsibilities and uses Amberol’s recycling bins extensively throughout the grounds to ensure that we meet targets for sustainability.”
