Moving trees

A Cambridgeshire nursery has recently taken delivery of a compact Weidemann wheeled loader to help streamline the handling of large trees and bulk materials.
Unusually, the nursery produces large pot grown trees from 12ft upwards and the new Weidemann 1350CX45 is proving to be the ideal machine for handling them in complete safety as it has the power necessary to lift the weight involved and its width of just 1044 mm enables it to gain access to the narrow rows of trees. Previously this task had to be accomplished using hand pulled trolleys which was both arduous and time consuming.
Prior to arrival of the 1350, most materials handling on site was carried out by a conventional rough terrain forklift, but the Weidemann loader now provides the flexibility to undertake a much wider range of day-to-day jobs. This flexibility is helped by the machine’s hydraulically operated attachment system which enables the operator to make quick and easy tool changes without leaving the cab.
The 1350CX45, supplied by local dealer Ben Burgess, is powered by a Perkins 4-cylinder diesel engine developing 31.4 kW @ 2600 rpm with a speed range from 0 – 20 km/h. Weighing in at 2.7 tonne, the machine has a maximum lift height to the bucket pivot point of 3.0 m and a lift capacity of 1.25 tonne.
