LOVE WHERE THEY LIVE …………………..

Staff from ISS Facility Services Landscaping, Wakefield and District Housing, Wakefield District Council and ISS sister division Rainbow International joined forces with the children and residents from the Minsthorpe Estate in Wakefield to prove that they ‘love where they live’.
The community project saw the volunteers working together litter picking and planting to improve and brighten up their local estate.
‘Love Where You Live’ is a Keep Britain Tidy initiative that aims to inspire, encourage and enable people to make where they live, work and play the kind of place they really want to be.
The landscaping works were guided by ISS who worked together with the Minsthorpe children helping them to dig holes and plant a wide variety of species which included hebes, phormiums, photinias and heucheras. The youngsters were also accompanied and assisted by ISS on ‘Estate’ litter picks, with Wakefield Council supplying the litter pickers and collecting the bags of rubbish at the end of the event. The ISS volunteers consisted predominantly of Contract and Area Managers, in order not to dilute the Grass Cutting Teams, at the start of the new season.
ISS has been working together with Wakefield and District Housing since 2010, delivering grounds maintenance solutions to the open spaces surrounding approx 5,000 tenant properties in the Hemsworth, South Elmsall and South Kirby areas. Services are provided by three dedicated teams and include grass cutting, shrub and hedge maintenance, weed control, litter picking and minor arboricultural works.
