Christine Mills ( pictured front seated ) of Ascott Designs was honoured with eFIG’s Lifetime Achievement Award at their Annual Awards Ceremony held at Birmingham Botanical Gardens last week. Christine was rewarded for her outstanding contribution to the industry over more than 30 years of service to the industry. She started out in 1978 with AC Rentaplant later to become Rentokil and now known as Ambius. Christine has been a member of eFIG since its inception in 2001.
“I am really proud to receive this reward and would like to thank Tom for his personal invitation from eFIG,” commented Christine. “Over the years I have had the privilege of working with so many people in our industry starting way back in the late ‘70’s with Alan Comford, Nina Lockyer, Steve Atrill and Mathew Dickinson at A C Rentaplant, the god father of the industry in many people’s eyes.”
The Life Time Achievement Award is the pinnacle award for members. During the evening ‘mystery guest’ Elvis Presley alongside chairman Thomas Palfreyman presented a total of 36 awards to members in recognition of their excellent standards of work in the categories of design and installation, maintenance and for technician excellence.

The Annual Awards Dinner celebrates the achievements of the industry over the previous year. In fitting style, this year’s evening began with a champagne reception in the glass houses of Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens followed by a three course dinner and the presentations.
The Dinner and Awards followed a day of bespoke accredited training for members and others in the industry to develop and progress. A further day of training continued on the Friday after the ceremonies. Tailored specifically to the needs of our industry, eFIG training is the only bespoke interior landscaping training available.
Chairman of eFIG, Thomas Palfreyman was pleased with the success of the events, “The entire event was thoroughly enjoyable. All training courses were received really well and I’d like to thank those who made these possible. And of course huge congratulations to all of the winners of the eFIG Awards – I felt immensely proud to be able to hand out the accreditations which will become the mark of distinction for our industry.”
